The Secret

Have you ever wondered
If you are beautiful?
If you are lucky,
Someone has already told you
That you are -
Whether or not you chose
To believe them, then.

Have you ever wanted
To get rid of that one thing
About yourself
That always makes you cringe?
Straighten your hair, or give it
More volume?
Smoke, bewilder,
Those eyes?
Plump your lips,
Rework your wardrobe,
Your silhouette?

And that's how the trap is set.
It draws you, into redrawing yourself.
But consider this:
Have you ever seen
An unbeautiful flower?
An unbeautiful ocean?
An unbeautiful sky?
Have you ever wanted
To give a river, a makeover?

And there's the secret
You have not let yourself believe
That you are beauty itself
Born of Nature,
Dressed in her spirit,
But layered in your voice,
Your actions
And your will.
