Talking Therapy

Spend a day with your fears
Invite them in, seat them
In comfort. Then let them talk.

Allow yourself to listen
Not as you usually do,
But with an interest in their stories.

Ask them how they would like
To help you lead your life.
(Remember, that is their only purpose.)

You may be surprised by some of their stories
But not as much as they will be
To find themselves heard.

Make a pact with them:
You will listen, one day of the week
But they will have to
Give up control.
